Em busca de novos paradigmas
O AMIC - Asian Media Information and Communication Centre realiza em Singapura, na próxima semana, a sua 16ª conferência anual, este ano em torno do tema “Media Education and Development: The Quest for New Paradigms”.
O que é interessante, neste caso, é constatar, também nesta região do mundo a preocupação pela procura de novos paradigmas, se bem que pautada, aparentemente, por uma preocupação 'tecnocêntrica. Eis como os organizadores explicam as preocupações subjacentes à iniciativa:
"The key focus of this conference will be the search for new paradigms of media education and development in a rapidly changing technological, policy and market environment. Asian media have undergone dramatic development and change in the past decade. Technological innovation and new modes of content production, storage and distribution call for new policy and regulatory environments. This has implications not only on the media industry but also on media education and society at large. Media consumers and audiences will also have to adapt to these transformations and will in turn contribute to driving market developments. The emergence of new digital media production and delivery platforms as well as new opportunities for individualized content production also poses new challenges for the media. In today’s media landscape the mainstream media have to contend with blogs and podcasts and a whole plethora of alternative media channels. What are the emerging trends in media education and development in the 21st century? What will be the implications of new production and delivery channels and processes? Who will be the drivers of the media landscape in this new millennium? How will media education address and adapt to the changing media landscape? These are some of the questions that the conference aims to address".
Outro aspecto interessante reside no facto de esta iniciativa decorrer em simultâneo com o primeiro World Journalism Education Congress (WJEC), com o qual partilhará, de resto, alguns dos paineis.
