Tenho lido partes de "O Esplendor do Caos", livro de Eduardo Lourenço, editado em 1998, pela Gradiva. Nele figura um capítulo intitulado “A Nova Comunicação” (pp.31-40) do qual deixarei aqui, nos próximos dias, alguns excertos que me pareceram mais significativos.

Literacia e imaginação

We take literacy for granted, but it is a rather recent invention in the evolution of the human species. The advent of literacy was the result of a confluence of factors that have long been the province of evolutionary biology, centering primarily on the development of the cerebral cortex.
Mimesis, cave painting, hieroglyphics, ideograms, the invention of primitive alphabets, and the Gutenberg printing press are frequently noted as watersheds in the making of man as a literate creature. From a neurophysiological perspective, literacy itself could be viewed as a shaping factor in the development of the human brain, along with certain verbal patterns that constitute oral traditions and, in turn, literature.
Is literacy just an episode in the larger history of human consciousness and intelligence? What are the elements of human imagination that facilitate the growth of literacy? This roundtable will consider the history of literacy from a scientific and humanistic point of view, examining it as an element of brain structure, a path to knowledge, and an expression of the imagination.

SIC desafia escolas a produzir reportagens

Ora aqui está uma iniciativa a que vale a pena estar atento. O JN de hoje traz a notícia:

“Portugal visto por nós” é o novo projecto educativo da SIC dirigido aos alunos do 3.º ciclo e do secundário, desafiando-os a produzir, num minuto e meio, histórias sobre a sua terra, família, escola ou país, em formato vídeo.

Os critérios de selecção dos trabalhos passam pela “criatividade” e “reflexão que possam provocar” sendo os melhores premiados com a transmissão numa das plataformas da SIC e equipamentos de vídeo. Os grupos devem ser compostos por três a seis elementos e fazer-se acompanhar por um professor.

Através do seu site, a estação de Carnaxide esclarece dúvidas do ponto de vista técnico, relacionadas com a construção jornalística das imagens e fornece toda a informação para os alunos se candidatarem.

As inscrições estão abertas até ao dia nove de Janeiro e a entrega dos trabalhos deverá ser feita até 15 de Abril.

"e-fabulations": Uma revista que vale a pena conhecer. Do número que acaba de ir para a Web, sugiro o vídeo Noite de Natal (de Pedro Alves, José Pedro Pinto, Alexandre Aguiã) e, entre outros, os textos de Manuel António Pina e Levi Malho.

"Daily Motion" cria canal de vídeo para crianças

O site de partilha de vídeos Daily Motion acaba de criar o canal DM Kids, uma WebTV dirigida às crianças. Compreende séries de desenhos animados, vídeos sobre os animais e informação. Em francês.
Benoît Rapahel, do blogue "Demain Tous Journalistes?", pergunta: "Será o princípio do fim da televisão?".
Talvez não seja caso para tal. Pelo menos por agora.
